A Fareham-based GP-led NHS organisation has won a Wessex regional poster competition to showcase and celebrate patient safety and quality improvement excellence.
The Quasar team from South Eastern Hampshire and Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Groups beat 32 other entries to triumph in the event run by the Wessex Academic Health Sciences Network (AHSN).
The competition was open to every health organisation in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, and the team was crowned ‘champions at the third annual AHSN Wessex Safety, Quality and Improvement Conference in Southampton.
The five members were LehBee Cornwall, Marcus Pullen, Chris Davis, Kate McCandlish, (who are pictured left to right) and Julia Barton.
Their entry, ‘Improving the Safety Culture in Primary Care,’ featured nine panels showing how they rolled out the Quasar surveillance tool across the 38 GP practices in their areas – which includes Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Hayling Island Waterlooville and Petersfield.
Ms McCandlish, Head of Quality for Primary Care and Community Services, said: “This poster shows how a tool developed by clinicians for use in primary care is improving the patient safety culture in primary care and how feedback from healthcare professionals leads to changes in local healthcare systems.”
