Nearly 400 Waterlooville-area patients attended an open day at their new GP practice in Cowplain.
The ‘familiarisation’ day event followed Oaks Healthcare to close its branch Surgery at Queenswood a few weeks ago and focus its resources on its main site a few hundred metres away on the other side of the main London Road.
The new combined practice has around 16,000 registered patients, of whom about 5,000 were previously at Queenswood.
Karen Jeffries, Business Manager for Oaks Healthcare, said: “Around 380 patients attended the open day, which helped to alleviate some of the anxieties of the Queenswood patients in finding their way around the building.
“We also used this opportunity to promote signposting and online services and give out general practice information.
“Our Patient Participation Group has been terrifically supportive. They were at the open day and representatives have attended both morning and afternoon surgeries, standing in reception and helping patients previously with Queenswood find their way to the correct waiting room - as we now have another waiting room on the first floor.
“The staff have coped exceptionally well with all the changes since the relocation and are a credit to the practice.”
