There are a variety of health services available to use which can sometimes get confusing.
That’s why the local NHS has teamed up with Wave 105 to bring an online and radio campaign to promote the range of services and when they should be used.
The campaign, which started this week and is set to run for two weeks, features six videos from a range of health service providers.
Each day the radio campaign will focus on a different theme – on Monday Dr Elizabeth Fellows, Portsmouth GP and urgent care lead for Portsmouth and south east Hampshire talked about primary care services.
She gave details about the extended access GP surgeries now offer, as well as the range of healthcare professionals you can see that might be more appropriate then having an appointment with a doctor.
This includes seeing a specialist nurse, a physio or a paramedic.
All videos are being promoted on Wave 105’s Facebook page and so far the primary care video has had 17,000 views.
Dr Mark Roland, urgent and emergency care clinical lead for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight STP has also summarised what the campaign is about.
Tuesday will feature NHS111, Wednesday pharmacies, Thursday mental health and Friday minor injuries units.
The two-week period is tied in to the Help Us Help You/Stay Well This Winter national campaign.
