Deadline approaches for Emsworth Surgery survey

Deadline approaches for Emsworth Surgery survey
04 December 2018

The deadline is fast approaching for residents to take part in the latest survey on the future of Emsworth Surgery.

People have until midnight this Sunday (December 9) to complete their survey online – and until 5pm tomorrow (December 5) to return hard copies of the survey to the surgery or its branch at Westbourne.

The number of options being considered for the surgery’s proposed relocation has been whittled down from nine to three, following a workshop attended by community representatives last month.

GPs at Emsworth want to relocate to a new site to provide the best possible services for their patients, ensure the long-term sustainability of their practice and to help meet the health needs of a growing population.

The three options are:

  • Relocating the surgery to a refurbished Emsworth Cottage Hospital site and possibly retaining a branch at Westbourne, subject to affordability
  • Moving the surgery to a replacement building on the hospital site. The existing buildings would be demolished. Westbourne branch may be retained, subject to affordability
  • Relocating to a new building at Redlands Grange. The existing Emsworth and Westbourne surgeries would be sold.

The earlier deadline for the hard copies is to give NHS staff enough time to input and collate the information so that it can be included in a report on the preferred option which must be sent to NHS England by December 21 – or £4.4m capital funding allocated for the scheme will be lost.

A report on the findings of the earlier survey, which centred on a ‘long list’ of nine potential options, is on the NHS South Eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group website -
